Nicholas (Chic) DelSanto created this recipe in the 1940’s with local, fresh ingredients. We first debuted this product commercially in 1992. We have re-introduced an improved recipe for what is the highest quality and healthiest spiedie marinade available.
Even though plastic is lighter and cost less to produce and ship, it is not safe to use especially with oil and vinegar.
Plastics contain Endocrine disruptors: Bisphenol A (BPA), Bisphenol S (BPS) and Phthalates which are substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity.
These chemicals mimic estrogen hormones in the body. Vinegar and oil in the marinade can escalate the breakdown of them into the product that you consume.
Many products today say they are BPA free but we do not have the ability to confirm that or the effects of these chemicals on the human body. Even if it is BPA free does not mean it is BPS or phthalate free.
